How It Works
Cylinder head temperature is an extremely accurate predictor of overheating as this is where combustion occurs. In testing, sudden coolant loss causes head temperature to rise within 20 seconds. The alarm is typically set 2-5 degrees above normal operating temperature for accurate, timely warnings.
Unlike traditional coolant-immersed temperature senders, ENGINE GUARD continues functioning perfectly during catastrophic coolant loss and accurately shows temperature even when coolant isn’t circulating due to stuck thermostats or failed water pumps.
Installation
Sensors typically mount on cylinder head inlet side inline with combustion chambers, commonly on lifting lugs/brackets. The system provides remarkably fast temperature change detection - showing variations in under 40 seconds compared to factory gauges that take minutes.
Applications
Ideal for monitoring:
- Engine cylinder head and oil temperature
- Engine and transmission temperatures
- Multiple engine locations for comprehensive protection
