The Davies Craig Fan Clutch is a precision-engineered thermal fan clutch designed to optimize your vehicle's cooling system efficiency while reducing unnecessary engine power consumption. This fluid coupling device provides controlled air flow through the radiator by utilizing the water pump shaft to power the fan blade.
How It Works
This thermal fan clutch features a built-in thermostat coil spring that continuously monitors the air temperature passing through the radiator and air conditioning condenser. When your engine is cool or at normal operating temperature, the clutch partially disengages, spinning at approximately 33% of the water pump speed to minimize power drain and improve fuel economy.
When additional cooling is required, the thermal spring expands as temperatures rise, opening a valve that allows silicon fluid to engage the clutch. In this engaged state, the fan clutch operates at approximately 75% of water pump speed, providing optimal air flow through the radiator to prevent overheating.
